We are a grassroots Community-Based Organization dedicated to empowering young girls and women in Kibera, with a special focus on survivors of Gender-Based Violence (GBV). Through holistic programs, we restore dignity, build resilience, and create safe spaces for healing, growth, and leadership.

We offer transformative mentorship programs covering self-awareness, leadership, career development, and Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). Our goal is to equip girls and young women with the confidence and tools to make informed life decisions.
Independence is key to healing. Our program trains GBV survivors especially women in sustainable urban farming techniques. From kitchen gardens to vertical farming, we turn small spaces into thriving sources of food security and income. This fosters ownership, healing, and environmental stewardship
We break the silence around GBV through community education, health/legal referrals, and survivor-centered justice initiatives. Our work ensures no one suffers in silence.
As slum peace and empowerment center, we believe that an informed and engaged citizenry is the foundation of a strong democracy . Through this our work is mainly on civic education and social accountability. Civic education is the systematic provision of information and learning to all citizens to guide them in participating effectively in democratic. This creates a sense of ownership, understanding and enhanced knowledge on governance that foster Accountability of duty bearers. In line with this social accountability is the citizen led initiatives carried our to hold duty bearers and leaders accountable on their responsibilities and public resources. This is done through public participation, citizen engagement, community scorecard and public expenditure tracking surveys, budget analysis among others.

Climate change is a growing threat, causing extreme weather, floods, and environmental damage in Kibera.Slum Peace and Empowerment Center (SPEC) addresses these challenges by promoting community-led solutions and environmental awareness. The youths proposed that stakeholders support capacity-building initiatives for young people in the community to enhance their skills and, ultimately, improve their livelihoods. This way, the youths will be productive and less likely to indulge in crime or be used as agents of insecurity. This was a truly powerful and insightful session with the young people

Our discussions centered on the importance of youth involvement in promoting safety and preventing urban violence in the community. The young people from Kambi Lendu area of Kibera spoke passionately about living in a safe community that fosters prosperity and happiness
